How to fix retrieving information from the server in Google Play

An app made by a student to an app created by a Multinational Corporation faces some issues here and there. Retrieving information from the server or DF-DFERH-01 issue is one of the most common problems faced by an Android user when trying to install an app from Google PlayStore.

  1. Restart the Android Device
It is one of those standard tricks in the book that everyone knows about. More than half of your basic technical faults can be fixed by simply restarting your device.
  • Turn off the Mobile Data and WiFi.
  • Press the power button for more than 3 seconds and tap restart.
  • Turn on the Mobile Data after the device boots up.
  • Now try installing the app.
Most of the time, this trick will work, but if not this time, then move on to the next step.
  • Change Date and Time settings to Automatic
Incorrect Time and Date settings can cause connectivity issues with Google. So try to keep the settings in sync.
  • Open the Settings tab.
  • Select Date and Time.
  • Turn on Automatic Date and Time.
  • Wait as the phone corrects the Date and Time.
  • Open the PlayStore after the Date gets corrected.
If the issue still exists, then try the next step.
  • Delete Google Play Store and Services Cache
Follow the given steps:
  • Open the Settings tab and open Applications.
  • Search for Google play services.
  • Tap on Storage and then Clear Cache.
  • Repeat the same with Google PlayStore.
If this does not fix the issue, then move on to the next step.
  • Update Google Play Store
Apps are updated to keep them bug-free, and the same goes for Google. So update the Google Play Store, and it may fix the issue.
  • Open the Settings tab and go to About section.
  • Press Play Store version and wait for a couple of seconds.
  • A pop-up will tell you whether or not it is up to date or not.
  • If it is not updated, then a notification will tell you so. Tap OK and wait for it to download.
If this does not fix the issue, then move on to the next step.
  • Add another Google Account
Adding another account can fix the issue so just:
  • Open the Settings tab and go to Accounts.
  • Tap on Google accounts.
  • Select Remove Accounts and confirm it.
  • Restart the device and go to settings.
  • Repeat the process but this time tap on Add Account.
  • Add a new Google account.
If the issue remains, then try the next step.
  • Update the Android Device
  • If your Android is not up to date then:
  • Go to the Settings tab and tap System.
  • Select Advanced options.
  • Tap on System update and wait.
  • If there is an update, then install it and wait.
Your device will restart, and you will be able to install apps now.
